After work, I’m off to Ikea to pick up this $8 multi-use hanger. I have one at home that’s covered in scarves. This one will be covered in felt. Add it to my Thanksgiving weekend craft list.
Stay tuned for the big reveal!

My favorite part of the long Thanksgiving weekend… time to sit around and do crafts! Here’s what’s on my list…
Felt flowers – I’ve been meaning to make a couple decorative pillows for the living room. Since I have flowers on the rug and flowers on my wall art, it only seems right to have flower pillows on the couch. Here’s a detailed how-to by MeganReardon.
Felt pine cone looking things – They kind of look like pine cones, don’t you think? Felt, pins, and Styrofoam balls… Looks easy as pie! How-to by Knitty Gritty Thoughts
Felt wreath – I am not usually one for wreaths. Maybe I’m not looking in the right places but I seem to only notice tacky, cheap-looking ones. Ya know, plastic Easter eggs or black feathers? Ew. Anyway, I found this one on Etsy. I think this could be year-round wall art. Plus, I think I can make it.
A great big thank you to our photographer, Ben Colvin, for submitting the pictures and to Megan McCarty from MNBride for sharing our story. Click here to see the post.
Apartment Therapy‘s most recent post is titled ‘9 things I wish I’d known about decorating a first home’. How fitting.
I love 1, 8, and 9.
My Google Reader is jam-packed with design sites and wedding blogs. At least once or twice a week, I come across a project that I cannot wait to try. I keep most of them stashed away for a rainy day but today I found a simple project that I have got to do this weekend.
The kitchen cabinets will have to wait.
Don’t tell Spencer, since he HATES it with a firey passion, that I’ll be taking a trip to Ikea on Saturday to pick up one of these babies. A $7 laminate Lack table…
The geniuses over at Ikea Hackers turned that table into a piece of art that covers unsightly fixtures. I have an unsightly fixture in my entry way!
Head over to their tutorial for the details and check back on Monday for mine.
Oh, and here’s this week’s top 5 home decor-ish blogs in my Google Reader. I’m always looking for a refresh so tip me off to your favs, too!
As I was puttering around the web this evening, I stumbled across a great post from Beth Voltmer, a crafty lade in Iowa, who writes My Inspired Life.
She re-posted a compilation of life’s lessons by Pulitzer Prize nominee, Regina Brett. She suggests printing the list and reading it daily.
My favorites are 4, 17, 23, 36, and 40. And I need to be constantly reminded that 1, 20, 25, and 41 are extremely true. Pick your favorites here.
P.S… I Googled Regina Brett and apparently she’s not even close to 90 years old like Beth’s post suggests. Oopsies.
So much for an arbor! This couple used paper chains to frame their ceremony. I love that the chains define the space and give it a pop of color without detracting from the beautiful view. A sexy take on a childhood classic.

Two of the things I love most about owning a home are learning about all its inner workings, accessories and moving parts and learning how to change, enhance and fix those parts.
Cabinets for example. Who knew that there was so much to know about kitchen cabinets? Did you know that they have carcasses? I found an awesome article on the This Old House website that has 34 pages explaining every nook and cranny.
Now I can hold my own in isle 5 at Home Depot.
We’re off to a wedding in Green Way, WI this weekend. Rumor has it there will be a cheese buffet. How fitting for a Wisconsin wedding. I love cheese!
Congrats to Carrie and Calvin!
