So much for an arbor! This couple used paper chains to frame their ceremony. I love that the chains define the space and give it a pop of color without detracting from the beautiful view. A sexy take on a childhood classic.

Two of the things I love most about owning a home are learning about all its inner workings, accessories and moving parts and learning how to change, enhance and fix those parts.
Cabinets for example. Who knew that there was so much to know about kitchen cabinets? Did you know that they have carcasses? I found an awesome article on the This Old House website that has 34 pages explaining every nook and cranny.
Now I can hold my own in isle 5 at Home Depot.
We’re off to a wedding in Green Way, WI this weekend. Rumor has it there will be a cheese buffet. How fitting for a Wisconsin wedding. I love cheese!
Congrats to Carrie and Calvin!
I started this blog for a lot of reasons (more on that later) but mainly because I wanted our wedding to be more than a 1-day event. I wanted to create an archive of all the madness and originality that made our celebration unique. Well, unique is a relevant term since a million summer 2011 brides used mason jars and burlap. Again, a topic for another time.
Because it’s so much easier to show you than tell you, I started to really enjoy expressing myself and sharing my creative visions in this way. So, for that reason alone, I’m going to keep doing it.
I’d love it if you’d continue to check in once in a while, or daily. Expect some exciting posts and probably some less exciting ones, too. My Zealand Avenue to-do list is 4 pages long! I’ve got mountains of things to show you – DIY decorating, home renovations, holiday crafts, crock pot recipes, oh my.
Our photographer, Ben Colvin, must be exhausted and sick of looking at us. Visit his blog for a recap of some of the best shots from August 13.
Thank you for everything, Ben. We can’t wait to recommend you to our friends and family.
A couple weeks ago Ruffled posted pictures of a glamorous rustic ranch wedding that I can’t stop thinking about. I had to share.

Love it! I’m sure at least a handful of my friends felt/still feel this way. I love you all for pretending to care.
Unrelated, I wonder how often someone pees their pants laughing during a SomeECards brainstorming session?
