DIY bottle cap candles

Spencer and I collect bottle caps. Or, we used to before we beer an cans was free.

We have at least 6 gallon-sized plastic freezer bags full of them. Don’t worry, we had help drinking that much beer. At one point, our end goal was to collect enough caps to cover the top of a bar. Maybe it still is?

We’ve diverted from the plan only once. That was to cover the Christmas tree in bottle cap ornaments. It was so worth it.

Our wonderful photographer, Ben Colvin, found this neat idea which I think is totally worth it, too.

How long do you think those bad boys would burn? Worth the bottle caps, yes! Worth the time it takes to make them versus the time they’ll stay lit, maybe not? Do ‘they’ make a long-lasting candle wax?

I’ll try some this weekend and let you know how it goes.

I think the best wax for longer candle burning is soy. but these sites may help. Nothing you can’t Google yourself though:-)
