Everything on a stick

I love the state fair. So much that it’s one of the locations Spencer considered proposing. Good thing he didn’t because I would have said no. I warned him that large, humiliating public proposals are not my thing.

Anyway, the best thing about the fair, other than the Miracle of Birth barn, is the food on a stick! It’s tasty, it’s portable, and it need not be eaten with a fork – the same 3 attributes that appetizers at an outdoor wedding should have.

In homage of the Great Minnesota Get Together (or for the reasons previously mentioned) all of our wedding appetizers will be served on a stick.

Like these caprese skewers that I found here. The ingredients crisp and fresh from the farmer’s market. How perfect for a warm summer afternoon?

Or these with tortellini, black olives, and pepperoni that I found here. Yum!

What else?

Hi girl! : ) Came across your adorable blog!
I would definitely suggest ham, cream cheese, and pickles a la Connie that we had for recruitment! YUM! Also, fruit kebobs with a raspberry sauce to dip in (not sure about how portable that would be) or something similar would be beautiful and delish. My mom would suggest a good turkey leg, but that’s too South Dakota even for me…

Thanks for reading, Em! Great suggestions, too! My aunt said that she’s had watermelon skewers that were drizzled with a savory glaze. Yum! Hope your planning is going well.

This is a great idea. The best thing about DIY weddings is that you can personalize everything. Everything on a stick will make prep super easy too. Say hello to assembly lines!
